概要 | The effects of androgen on the body color of the female rosy bitterling were examined at the skin chromatophore level. Treatment with methyltesto-sterone or with 11-ketotestosterone for 30 days induced a rosy coloration of the body. In addition, the fins became darker and were red in some areas. The rosy coloration was caused by increased numbers of red erythrophores and colorful iridophores instead of yellow xanthophores and silvery iridophores, respectively. In the dorsal fin, the black spot disappeared, and the anterior part and the distal region became red and black, respectively. These results suggest that androgen regulates the region-specific differentiation, migration and apoptosis of skin chromatophores and induces a male-type nuptial coloration in the female rosy bitterling. |
