概要 Mucinous carcinoma is normally depicted as a mass that is isoechoic with fat tissue in ultrasound. We examined one case of breast cancer using perflubutane (Sonazoid) in contrast enhanced ultrasound. In this case, breast cancer could not be identified as a tumor using only B-mode ultrasound. The tumor was confined to the fat tissue, and the internal structure had the same density as its surrounding.
The patient was a 60-year-old female... The entire tumor was uniformly contrast enhanced.
The 10th Annual International Symposium on Ultrasound Contrast Imaging was held in Tokyo in December of last year. We reported at the symposium that fibroadenoma of the breast had a faster arrival time and peak time among fibroadenoma, scirrhous carcinoma, solid tubular carcinoma/breast cancer, and ductal carcinoma in situ. We found that mucinous carcinoma of the breast was contrast enhanced at an even faster time.
Contrast enhanced ultrasound using Sonazoid could be more useful than B-mode ultrasound in the estimation of histologic type in preoperative diagnostic imaging.
